How 2022 is shaping up: The two new projects expected in 2022 (Sabine Pass Train 6 and Calcasieu Pass LNG) have exported their first cargo in Q1. This will contribute to pushing US supply even higher, exacerbating some of the disparities within the Atlantic basin. A structural shift in uncontracted cargoes from Asia to Europe has also provided support to utilisation at US facilities over January-February, by reducing voyage time and allowing ships to come back quicker to load. However, we’ve also witnessed some issues on logistics and inefficiencies (longer wait times, etc) as a result. Upstream performance is the key risk for 2022 with uncertainty on backfill and feedgas levels growing at existing projects in Australia, Malaysia, Trinidad, Nigeria and Angola. There is significant room to improve plant reliability. We’ll also be watching closely whether sanctions imposed on Russia have animpact on loadings.
