Commodity Market Report
LNG short-term trade and price outlook (Q3 2022)
Report summary
Rallying power prices, outages in Norway and continued uncertainties on Russian flows have pushed European gas prices above $80/mmbtu. European LNG prices extended their discounts to European gas hubs – a dynamic we expect will soften in Q4 – as the system remains maxed out across continental NW Europe. Pacific LNG buyers remain on the sidelines at these price levels. Asian prices trade at parity to European LNG. A moderate premium could emerge this winter, but we expect limited competition.
