North America gas weekly update: Arctic freeze
Report summary
Straddling both last and the current week in progress, an arctic freeze wreaked havoc for North America gas markets. Yet a quick warm up post-Christmas holidays, briefly plummeted the soon to expire January 2023 NYMEX Henry Hub gas contract below $5/mmbtu. Additive was yet another delay of Freeport LNG’s planned initial restart until the second half of January 2023 that provided a lump of coal in the stockings of market bulls.
