Commodity Market Report
North America gas weekly update: Henry Hub in free fall
Report summary
The peak winter NYMEX January 2024 contract has collapsed near $2.30/mmbtu. The winter risk premia represented by the spread between the March/April 2024 contracts has all but eroded. Is winter already over? The lack of substantial, sustained cold weather is limiting L48 gas storage withdrawals. Coupled with booming US gas production, this will expand the storage surplus in coming weeks. Amid these dynamics, Henry Hub gas prices are searching for a floor.
