North America gas weekly update: Storage injections fail to impress
Report summary
Moderating weather and higher production should eventually result in higher injections. However, in the near term, another lower than normal weekly injection may be in store. That’s not helping to calm down Henry Hub gas prices which have rallied more than $1/mmbtu crossing above $9.32/mmbtu. European gas prices rallying to new record highs above $70/mmbtu this winter is increasing the winter price risk premia. In the weeks ahead the North America gas market asks: • Will moderating weather further reduce gas demand and by how much? • Is record US gas production prepared to grow further? • Will the storage deficit finally narrow?
