The Atlantic basin storm season has begun in earnest. Beryl became the earliest category 5 hurricane on record in the Atlantic basin and is on track to cross over Jamaica and into the Yucatan. Thereafter the National Hurricane Center (NHC) keeps Beryl’s track south of Texas as it weakens to a tropical storm. No natural gas market impacts are currently expected, other than potential rainfall over South Texas to cool down hot temperatures. This weekly natural gas commodity report seeks to explore: • Are cooling degree days still above normal? • How high is power demand projected? • Will the storage surplus decrease further?
