Poland signs up for more US LNG ahead of Russian gas contract expiring
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Poland's state gas importer, PGNiG, has signed three long-term SPAs in two months for LNG supplied from the US. Poland, which wants to reduce its reliance on Russian piped gas imports, now has binding agreements for US LNG that will reach 3.45 mmtpa under long-term commitments to add to the current contracted volumes supplied by Qatar with possibly more contracts to be signed in the near future. Poland will require greater LNG regas capacity to deal with the newly contracted volumes. And even more new sources of supply will be required if Poland wishes to replace all Russian piped gas when the current contract with Gazprom ends in 2022.
