Southern Cone gas and power short term outlook April 2020
Report summary
After more than one month than lockdowns started in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia, the historical data shows how coronavirus impacted the energy demand in these countries. However, the gas demand crash has been more severe in Brazil and Bolivia. Nevertheless, future supply is reshaped with the expected demand and prices, as we see in the case of Argentina, where Vaca Muerta future drilling has been impacted both by low oil and gas prices. This downgrade Argentina’s domestic production will affect interruptible exports for Chile and the need for LNG in the Southern Cone.
