Thermal projects registered in Brazil power auction show appetite for pre-salt gas monetization
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
1,829 projects have been registered for the next A-6 power auction in Brazil, summing up to 100,874 MW of capacity, of which 41,718 MW are gas-fired projects, 51% higher compared to the 2018 A-6 auction. Pre-salt potential, connection to Brazil-Bolivia pipeline and a high consumption level explain the 21,665 MW of capacity located in southeast. In addition, existent and proposed regasification infrastructures create new opportunities for projects along the Brazilian coast. In this inform, we assess: • The main projects that could participate • How each region could offer the most competitive environment • How the different natural gas sources can contribute to the auction
