Where next for European gas storage?
Report summary
The end of October represents the completion of the gas storage fill season in Europe. There is a record 101 bcm in store, a full 6 bcm higher than the previous record set in 2016. A combination of factors has brought about this extraordinary level of availability for this winter. High supply availability and high summer winter price spreads have supported this increased level of activity in a sector of the market which has consistently struggled commercially throughout the 2010s. The Insight explains the reasons for the change in market sentiment concerning storage.
