Cheniere and Apache sign first LNG priced US gas sales agreement
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
On 3 June 2019, Cheniere announced that its subsidiary, Corpus Christi Stage 3, has entered into a gas sales agreement (GSA) with Apache for 140 mmcfd. The GSA breaks new ground in being the first between a US LNG exporter and an upstream producer based on international LNG prices. The deal has strong commercial drivers for both sides. It allows Apache to diversify its sales portfolio to include global LNG prices and enables Cheniere to sell LNG on a non-Henry Hub index without taking on the spread risk. Corpus Christi Stage 3 is Cheniere's next expansion project. With two or three more deals of similar size to the Apache deal (0.85 mmtpa), the signs are positive for an FID next year.
