Report summary
TTF jumps amid drop in Russian piped flows and confirmation of longer outage at Freeport LNG TTF settled at $34.8 on Wednesday, rising from $25.3 last week, on the news of a longer outage at Freeport LNG and decreased Russian flows to Europe. TTF’s premium over Northeast Asia increased down the rest of the curve. Gazprom is decreasing piped flows via the Nord Stream pipeline to about 95 mcm/d, blaming equipment issues. Ukraine’s gas transmissions operator put out a statement in response to the news of decreased flows, pointing out that the constraint is purely political and that, “Gazprom has an opportunity to increase transit through Ukraine by 82.4 million cubic meters per day, which fully compensates for the decrease in amounts through Nord Stream – 1.” Russian transit flows via Ukraine to Europe averaged about 39 mcm/d this past week. Notably, the Yamal-Europe pipeline has not been used for more than a month.
