Global gas & LNG weekly summary: 9 Sep 2022
Report summary
Russian supply cuts and Chinese demand worries lead to volatile week for gas prices Gas prices from Europe to Asia were volatile this week, as traders weighed Gazprom's decision to indefinitely suspend operations of the Nord Stream pipeline on Friday and Chinese lockdown developments. Despite major volatility in the run-up to and aftermath of Gazprom's announcement, TTF was flat week-over-week at $62 as of Wednesday's settle. Conflicting narratives surrounding the return of Nord Stream volumes saw TTF sell off to as low as $45 before the Gazprom announcement. News had proliferated throughout the market earlier on Friday that Reuters reported someone with knowledge of the situation had told them volumes would be returned.
