The 32 mmtpa North Field East (NFE) LNG development is the largest single LNG project to be sanctioned in history. At full production, the development will increase Qatar's LNG export capacity by 43% to 110 mmtpa in the second half of this decade. The Final investment decision (FID) on the project was taken in February 2021 with the award of the US$13 billion engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the four liquefaction trains to a Chiyoda and Technip Energies consortia.
