After suspending peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on 16 November following the capture of General Rubén Darío Alzate and two companions in the north-western department of Chocó, President Juan Manuel Santos has announced that peace talks are to resume after the FARC promised to free the three captives along with two soldiers seized earlier this month.
