On Monday, August 10, 2015, Kyushu Electric restarted unit 1 of its Sendai nuclear power station after more than two years of upgrades, rigorous safety inspections and approvals. This will mark the first time Japan generated nuclear power since the Ohi reactor came offline in September 2013.
