Report summary
The Norwegian krone has depreciated 19% against the US dollar since May 2014. Initially the krone was pushed lower by the end of quantitative easing in the US, however, since November 2014 the rapid decline in oil price has been a key drivers of a weaker krone. As an oil producing country, the krone has a strong positive relationship with the oil price; depreciating with falling oil prices and appreciating with rising prices.
