Aitik copper mine
Report summary
Aitik is a low grade, high tonnage copper, gold and silver deposit hosted within a supracrustal metamorphosed shear zone of Precambrian origin. In October 2014, the Land and Environment Court granted Boliden permission to ramp up production to 45mtpa and to implement the required dam elevations to enable continued tailings deposition. In 2021, roughly 41Mt were processed. The mine is implementing an autonomous hauling system to improve efficiencies and work safety, it is expected to be fully operational by 2024.
