Bissa gold mine is located approximately 85km north of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. Being officially commissioned in 2013, Bissa reached full capacity in just two months. Mining is by conventional open pit mining methods with the ore treated in a 4.8Mt/a plant based on a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit with an Anglo-American Research (AARL) elution process, well suited for the treatment of free milling gold ore. In September 2016, the Bissa operation was expanded by the commissioning of the heap leaching facility at the Bouly deposit, located 5km from the Bissa mine. The pregnant leach solution from the pads is further treated at the existing Bissa plant.
