Technical problems at the mill relating to the use of autogenous grinding and lower than expected ore grades were experienced in 2006 and 2007. ScanMining filed for bankruptcy protection in mid-2007, but bankruptcy followed in December 2007. ScanMining acquired COGEMA's exploration resource in Vasterbotten Municipality in 1997.
