Although the smallest of the Evander mines, Bracken was once the richest mine in the area. The mine is now closed. Kimberley Reef is mined. No possibility of secondary reef mining exists; the Kimberley is the only reef mined in the area. A coal seam exists above the lease area but is unlikely to be mined.
