Cadia is a large, low cost, copper-gold mining operation located in the New South Wales, Australia. This analysis includes historic production from Cadia Hill open pit (now closed) and the Cadia East underground block cave mine. The mine is 100% owned by ASX-listed Newcrest Mining. The Cadia Valley concentrator on site processes ore from both Cadia Hill and Cadia East, and ore from the adjoining Ridgeway underground operation, also owned by Newcrest Mining. Concentrator 1 was expanded to 20Mtpa in 2013 to handle harder underground ore from Cadia East underground, in 2019 it was operating at 23Mt/a ore with the increase in capacity resulting from several improvement projects. Concentrator 2 operates at 7Mt/a ore, previously processed ore from Ridgeway and is now being utilised for Cadia East production.
