The mine is located in the Casa Berardi Township, in north-eastern Quebec, straddling the Ontario border. Casa Berardi is a combined open-pit and underground operation that is comprised of the West Mine area, the East Mine area, and the central Principal Mine Area. Open pit ore production commenced in July 2016 from the East Mine Crown Pillar (EMCP) pit. Underground mining consists of longhole transversal stoping and longitudinal retreat mining methods, depending on the mineralisation width. In the East Mine, there are some stopes which will adopt cut and fill due to ground conditions. The plant is comprised of crushing, grinding, a gravity circuit, a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit, followed by carbon, elution and electrowinning circuits, prior to smelting to produce gold doré.
