Centauro - La Herradura gold mine
Report summary
La Herradura, located in Sonora, is one of Mexico's largest open pit gold mines. It is comprised of an open pit mine, heap leach, Merrill Crowe processing and dynamic leaching plants (DLP). In 2018, the second line at the DLP was commissioned in the third quarter, with commercial production achieved in 2019. Commissioning of the second line of the DLP will extend the mine life and also help improve recoveries of the sulphide ore deeper in the pit. Fresnillo continue to further evaluate the expansion of the Centauro pit, Mega Centauro, in order to sustain annual gold production of 470koz.
