Copper: things to look for in 2021
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Copper’s fundamentals in 2020 were overshadowed by the recovery in China and investor buying on the back of a copper intensive green-led recovery, pushing prices to trade to their highest level since early 2013. The key factors to watch over the coming 12 months that will shape the copper market include: the vaccination roll-out; expectations that demand for copper will rise on the back of government’s pledges to decarbonise their economies and associated speculative interest; mine supply growth with the potential for risks from project execution as well as political and social instability; and a focus on smelter performance given the impact of low TCRCS on industry margins.
