Report summary
The Essakane mine is a surface operation, located 330km northeast of Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso. Gold is produced from oxide ore using a conventional carbon-in-leach (CIL) processing circuit. A new processing line was commissioned in 2014 to mill a higher proportion of harder rock. A carbon fines treatment plant and intensive leach reactor (ILR) was commissioned in 2016 to improve gold recovery at the mill.
