Asset Report
Falcondo nickel operation
Report summary
Falcondo historically was always highly susceptible to oil price rises due to its heavy reliance on oil for power generation. Glencore announced the suspension of operations at Falcondo in October 2013, citing falling nickel prices. The company stated that it would be closed for up to three years. In addition, the region of the country encompassing the Loma Miranda orebody was delegated as a national park potentially blocking any development of this higher grade region. American Nickel Limited purchased Falcondo in 2016 and recommenced production shortly afterwards.
