FGO is the Group’s northernmost mining hub of its Murchison Projects. It encapsulates the historic mining centres of Labouchere, Fortnum, Horseshoe and Peak Hill, with aggregated historical gold production of approximately 2Moz. Mining output is currently dominated by the Starlight underground mine which produces at a rate of approximately 600,000 tonnes per annum. The ore from Starlight is blended with low-grade stocks. Going forward, Westgold plans to replace the low-grade stock component with higher-grade open pit ores from the procession of open pit feeds.

Table of contents

  • In August 2024, Westgold Resources acquired Karora Resources. The acquisition allowed Westgold to integrate Karora's assets, including the Beta Hunt and Higginsville gold operations, with its existing mines in the Murchison region of Western Australia. As a result of the acquisition, Westgold restructured its operating segments to reflect its expanded portfolio, grouping its assets into two distinct regions: the Murchison operations and the newly acquired Southern Goldfields operations. The profile will no longer be updated and will be covered under the Company's Murchison operations - Mee.
