Commodity Market Report
Global copper short-term outlook September 2021
Report summary
The volatility in the copper price that emerged during August has continued into September, albeit driven by different factors. As we approach the final quarter of the year, mine supply growth is expected to accelerate which could weigh on prices. The pace of demand meanwhile is expected slow compared to the first half of the year. However, the upcoming COP 26 will see a renewed focus on copper and its role in the energy transition. It will also highlight the challenges to meet an anticipated rise in demand, which could yet reignite investor interest and underscore volatility in the market moving forward.
