Report summary
Graphite demand slowed and prices stabilised in December, with consumers having stockpiled ahead of winter mine closures. While EVs gained market share in Europe, North America, and China, supply chain tightness and slowing sales in China have hurt demand. Global steel consumption is expected to decline 3% YoY in 2022, reducing demand for synthetic graphite electrodes. Madagascan flake graphite exports increased in November to compensate for supply chain disruptions in Mozambique.
