Report summary

2023 is likely to be a year of moderation for the graphite market. There are multiple headwinds to growth, especially in the EV market. China has cut subsidies, while the EU will experience a recession during the first half of the year. As a result, graphite prices are under pressure, particularly in China. However, we expect the market to begin to recover in the second half of the year as macroeconomic pressures subside. Demand for battery anodes in the long-term remains positive and we continue to forecast higher prices for battery-grade graphite.
