Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook December 2021
Report summary
Nickel prices held up well in December. In days of consumption, exchange nickel stocks are at their lowest level for 15 years. Global demand will increase by another 10% in 2022, chiefly driven by China's stainless and battery segments. So, stocks could go even lower and nickel prices should stay high. However, downside risks remain from further power rationing in China and burgeoning supply from Indonesia, as NPI and nickel matte.
