Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook May 2019
Report summary
Nickel sentiment has turned bearish. Prices are falling and risks are mostly on the downside. Concerns mount about the fraught trade relations between China and the USA. China may cut stainless production due to lower prices and record high stocks. Yet expanding Chinese NPI is boosting global supply. The net effect of this weaker demand and stronger supply is that 2019 may end with a small surplus.
