Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook May 2022
Report summary
Nickel prices rallied in late May as China emerged from lockdown with new economic measures and Indonesia again floated the idea of a ban or a tax on nickel product exports. Prices had been heading back to where they were before the March trading halt, and will return to that trajectory as supply eases and demand moderates. Ever more nickel is coming in Indonesia and China is exposed to further Covid outbreaks.
