Stainless markets weaken with economic concerns magnifying the near-term downside. China is only now picking up after a resurgence of Covid in May, but the lack of strength is leaving next year's expansion in capacity at risk of deferral. That exports may soon be limited could reduce demand further. Indonesia continues to expand, however, and will sustain its challenge to producers through exports. Meanwhile, Europe struggles with falling base prices, high energy costs and the threat of production cuts.
