Report summary
In 1960 the Hongqiling Nickel deposit, which is comprised of Daling and Fujia deposits was discovered in Panshi City. Construction of Hongqiling commenced in June 1960 and was commissioned in 1964. In September 1968, Hongqiling changed its name to 887 Factory and then to PanShi Nickel Mine in July 1972 and finally to Jilin Nickel Industry Co. Ltd in July 1985. Jilin Jien Nickel was formed in 2003. In July 2025, the JIEN nickel brand achieved LME approval as an eligible delivery instrument under the LME Nickel contract. The company announced a 60 ktpa nickel sulphate greenfield project in 2022, and Phase 1 commenced operation in December 2025, processing high-matte nickel feedstock at 30 ktpa capacity.
