Report summary
Jinchuan Nickel Mining Co has been China's largest nickel producer since the early 1960s, building upon the Longshoushan deposit discovered over 50 years ago in northwest China's Hexi Corridor. It remains government-funded, and is therefore favoured when it needs to obtain credit for in-house plant expansion or for investment in facilities abroad. In January 2024, Jinchuan commissioned a 25 kt/a SX-EW electrowinning nickel cathode system, and in April 2025 Phase 1 of the 280 kt/a nickel sulphate project commenced production.
