The Kainantu gold mine is a high-grade underground gold-copper-silver operation in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG), about 180 km west-northwest of the port city of Lae. K92 Mining Inc. (K92) owns 100% of the mine through its PNG subsidiary, K92 Mining Ltd. It operates under Mining Lease 150 (ML150), which runs to 13 June 2034. The mine was developed by Highlands Pacific and later owned by Barrick Gold Corporation (Barrick). It was on care and maintenance from 2008 until K92 acquired it in 2015. K92 restarted operations in 2016 and declared commercial production in February 2018.
