Karouni mine is located 165km southwest of Georgetown, Guyana. There are several identified deposits with mineral reserves contained within four separate deposits - Smarts, Hicks, Spearpoint and Larken. In addition to these orebodies, there are a number with an identified resource - Ohio Creek, Goldstar, Smarts Deeps, Hicks Deeps, in addition to a number of exploration targets on the property. There are several open pits at the deposit, utilising conventional truck and shovel mining techniques. The processing plant has a design throughput of 960kt/a and includes two-stage crushing, grinding, a gravity circuit, a carbon-in-leach circuit, carbon adsorption-desorption recovery, elution, electrowinning and smelting to produce a dore.
