Report summary

Kibali is a combined open-pit and underground mining operation. The mine is owned by Kibali Goldmines SPRL, a joint venture company between Randgold Resources (45%), Anglogold Ashanti (45%) and Societe Miniere de Kilo-Mota (10%). Randgold is the project operator. Commercial production was achieved in October 2013 and in 2017, the mine produced 596koz of gold. A two phased development approach was adopted. Phase 1 comprised the development of an open pit operation, processing plant and the first of three hydropower stations. The second phase comprised development of an underground operation along with two additional hydropower stations. Randgold commissioned the second hydropower station (Ambarau) in 2017 and expects to commission the third (Azambi) in 2018.
