Report summary

Kolomela is located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The mine is operated by Kumba, who are 65.3% owned by Anglo American. The mine's production is comprised of 65% lump (at 65.0% Fe) and 35% fines (at 64.5% Fe) which is railed to Saldanha for export. Kolomela started commercial production of direct shipping ore in 2011. The mine is a conventional drill and blast, truck and shovel, dry crush and screen operation, with ore sourced from three different pits.Anglo American is undergoing a group restructure, with a focus on 'later cycle commodities' which include copper, diamonds and platinum. Iron ore assets have been flagged as non-core and Anglo are looking to divest or spin-off Kumba.
