Lagunas Norte (Alto Chicama) gold mine
Report summary
The mine is a typical open pit, valley-fill heap leaching operation with gold and silver recovered via a Merrill Crowe circuit. In Q3 2018, Barrick updated the feasibility study pertaining to the processing of carbonaceous material and the treatment of refractory sulphide ore. Based on the conclusions of the report Barrick deemed that the project did not meet their investment criteria and that they would no longer proceed with the project until the economics were more favourable. Subsequently we have removed this project from the accompanying analysis. In Q3 2019, Barrick made the decision to place Lagunas Norte on care and maintenance.
