Lefa gold mine is located 700km north-east of Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea. Having commenced commercial production in 2008. the mine was acquited by Nordgold in 2010, as part of their acquisition of Crew Gold. In 2018, Lefa was Nordgold`s second largest asset producing 187.8koz gold. Gold production was, however, 10% lower than 2017 primarily due to lower head grades. It is a conventional open pit operation with three major open pit and several other smaller and higher grade satellite pits, which provide additional fee to the mill. Milled ore is treated in an agitated leach plant, with gold recovery via a carbon-in-pulp circuit.
