Lefa gold mine is located 700km north-east of Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea. Having commenced commercial production in 2008. The mine was acquired by Nordgold in 2010, as part of their acquisition of Crew Gold. It is a conventional open pit operation with three major open pits and several other smaller and higher grade satellite pits, which provide additional fee to the mill. Milled ore is treated in an agitated leach plant, with gold recovery via a carbon-in-pulp circuit.
