Report summary
The Mehdiabad zinc deposit in Iran, situated 600km south east of Tehran, is of mixed oxide-sulphide composition (25% as oxide and 75% as sulphide) and is a giant carbonate-hosted Zn-Pb-Ag deposit. The project to exploit Mehdiabad was initially owned 50% by the government and 50% by the URL/ITOK joint venture, subject to the latter spending US$10M on exploration and feasibility studies, this venture being agreed in 1999.
