In mid-February, Wood Mackenzie travelled to New Caledonia and met with the three major nickel producers, namely Glencore, Vale and Eramet. Our analyst travelled to each of their operations, Koniambo (Glencore) in the north of the island, Vale New Caledonia (VNC) in the south-east and SLN Doniambo (Eramet) in the capital Noumea. Wood Mackenzie also met with executives from the private nickel mining and export companies, Societe Miniere Georges Montagnat Sarl (SMGM), Societe des Mines de la Tontouta (SMT) and Societe Minere du Sud Pacifique (SMSP).
