Report summary
The Nimba project is in the Guinean Nimba Mountains of south-eastern Guinea, on the borders with Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire. Nimba is a high grade, direct shipping ore (DSO) deposit. Owned by High Power Exploration (HPX), development of the Nimba project will be dependent on securing a viable transport infrastructure solution. While the preferred solution is access to the existing Liberian rail, it depends on ArcelorMittal's agreement. Located in a classified UNESCO World Heritage site, obtaining the necessary environmental approvals and mine development will also be complex for Nimba. In late 2022, HPX released a new production plan with a much lower initial capex.
