Noble steel alloys short-term outlook August 2022
Report summary
Noble alloys prices continued to come under pressure through August, with steady falls registered for vanadium. In comparison, niobium prices remained largely flat. On the other hand, molybdenum prices recovered from their intra-month lows, although monthly averages were still lower than in July. The current macroeconomic uncertainty has weighed on alloy demand and the situation is not expected to improve with rising inflation and a steep increase in energy prices. As a result, the short-term outlook for the noble alloys remains weighted to the downside.
