Nova-Bollinger nickel operation
Report summary
A Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) was completed on the Nova-Bollinger project in July 2014. The project's owners, Sirius Resources had planned to bring the project into production in 2016. In May 2015, Western Australian based Independence Group NL, announced a bid to take over Sirius for $1.8 billion. Approval of the takeover was finalised in late August. In October 2016, Independence Group NL announced that it had produced first concentrate at Nova-Bollinger some six weeks ahead of schedule. The company was planning to focus on achieving steady state operation at design throughput, and meeting concentrate specification and recoveries over the remainder of the year. First concentrate deliveries to BHP Billiton were due in December, with exports commencing in early 2017.
