Report summary
Norzink was established in 1924 by La Compagnie Royale Asturienne des Mines. To ensure long-term power supplies Norzink entered into a long-term contract with, and took shares (40%) in Tyssefaldene AS, the local hydroelectric company. Initially it was intended to use an electrothermic process, but experiments were disappointing and a 36kt/a zinc electrolytic plant started production in 1929.
