Palmarejo gold mine
Report summary
Palmarejo is comprised of the Palmarejo mine and mill facilities, Guadalupe and Indepencia underground mines. The Palmarejo site and surrounding Trogan licence area is located 15km northwest of the town of Temoris in Chihuahua State. The Guadalupe target lies within the Trogan tenements, approximately 8 kilometres southeast of the Palmarejo orebody, while Independencia is located 800 metres northeast of Guadalupe. Coeur Mining also have several exploration targets at the Palmarejo complex. Ore is processed in a 2Mt/a carbon-in-leach (CIL) and Merrill-Crowe circuit to produce gold and silver. Palmarejo transitioned into an underground only operation following the development of Independencia and Guadalupe deposits, and cessation of open pit mining in 2016. In 2020, the mines produced 123koz of gold and 7.5Moz of silver. Combined production of 100-110koz of gold and 6.5 - 7.75Moz of silver was expected from the underground mines in 2021.
